Shampoo or pitch wash? \u2026 or maybe both?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This is possibly a question that&#8217;s been in the air for as long as: &#8220;Which came first &#8211; the chicken or the egg?&#8221; If not for men as for cars, but certainly for women. Below is the story of Paula and her &#8220;spotted&#8221; Volkswagen.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-luminous-vivid-amber-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1a390cd605cbd92375831585fea270fd\">When a car wash destroys your car<\/h2>\n\n<p>After several hours of shopping in Tartu L\u00f5unakeskus, Paula came up to her car and the satisfaction after a stroll disappeared when she saw her spotted \u201cDalmatian\u201d. The shampoo wash at home did not work wonders. The spots of dirt became even more visible and Paula could not understand whether she was washing it incorrectly or if she had chosen the wrong products\u2026 That day she learned: shampoo alone is not enough. The right wash works in sequence. Scrubbing harder, on the other hand, will scratch and damage the body of the car.    <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-luminous-vivid-amber-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c809c0e528fb46d22f3b91d348acee05\"><strong>Shampoo is good for a finishing touch, but pitch wash fights the real dirt<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>If you wash your car more often, shampoo is perfect: it washes gently, smells good and does its job with everyday dirt. However, asphalt pitch, resin and bitumen stick to the body like gum under a sneaker. The only thing that saves you here is a pitch soak, which dissolves the sticky dirt before it reaches the main wash. This way, there are fewer scratches and the shine is cleaner than ever. In other words, the following washing order brings the best results:  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Pre-wash \u2192 pitch wash \u2192 shampoo wash \u2192 drying \u2192 protection.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Pre-wash (foam) removes loose dust and sand.Eelpuhastus<\/strong> (vaht) eemaldab lahtise tolmu ja liiva. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pitch wash dissolves tar and resin streaks. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shampoo wash ensures a safe contact finish. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drying and protection (e.g. ceramic maintenance) make the next washes easier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Why is it most effective? The most scratchy stuff comes off before the brushes touch the body. Can a pitch wash damage the cover? It can, but it is not the pitch wash itself that is dangerous, but its incorrect use. If the wash is too long and the temperature is too hot, the cover can be damaged.     <strong>The best option is to reapply protection after the wash.<\/strong> The dirt spots left on Paula&#8217;s car body turned into spots&#8230; and spots are not the only damage that can be seen on a car body here in the Estonian climate.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-luminous-vivid-amber-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c824c0b92af944bf03c9ed4d68c208b4\"><strong>Estonian weather is anything but kind to cars.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>Four alternating seasons. Warm summer, cold winter. Insects, winter salt, road dust\u2026 and this list could go on and on. What could possibly help against all this?   <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sticky bitumen in the summer heat:<\/strong> pitch wash or nothing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Insect residue: <\/strong>bug remover instead of dry rubbing. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Brake dust on rims:<\/strong> rim cleaner that binds iron particles in addition to separate brushes\/gloves.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Winter salt: <\/strong>foam + pH-neutral shampoo; deep wash if necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Paula tried to wash everything with just shampoo, but it only dragged rough dirt along the body, with scratches and spots on the way. Yep, you got it. Straight o the Autoilu hand wash, where the car was pre-cleaned, pitch washed and thoroughly rinsed. Only then was a shampoo wash. With straight movements, from top to bottom. It was dried thoroughly + a protector was also applied.
